KURUKSHETRA UNIVERSITY KURUKSHETRA

The department of Fine Arts was introduced in the Kurukshetra University since July, 1995 having two years MASTER'S DEGREE IN FINE ARTS (PAINTING & COMMERCIAL ART) AND CERTIFICATE COURSE IN PAINTING. At present, there is only M.A. degree. However, there is a proposals to introduce 4-year Bachelor in Fine Arts in near future.

The objectives of the Department are:-

(1)To promote Art & Culture in the State;

(2)Academic training in the field of Fine Art to earn bread & butter.

(3)To promote study in the field of Painting. Applied Art & Sculpture.

(4)To encourage the setting up of a Institution to provide training & research in various field of art;

(5)To organise seminar/conferences to publish and promote literature on Art;

(6)To establish and maintain a Library of Art & Culture;

(7)To encourage & foster the revival and development of folk Art & Crafts.

(8)To conduct workshop-cum-seminar on Art & Culture;

(9)To promote Fine Arts amongst the College students/school children ;through Painting and Poster Competition.

Programme of Study

This two year M.A. Course has more Practical Papers than Theory Papers. It contains three Paper of Practical and one Paper of Theory. It is just like of Science Department Course. There is two options in the Paper-IV i.e.

1.Painting and the other

2.Commercial Art.

The M.A. programme is Annual system.

Research Facilities

The department enrols students for research in Fine Arts. At present one candidate is doing Ph.d. degree and another candidate is a Research Scholar.

Entrance Examination for M.A. Course

For admission to MA (Previous) Fine Arts Course, the Entrance Test is conducted to test the knowledge of the candidates at the appropriate level i.e. Bachelor's degree. The Entrance Test will be of three hours duration and will comprise Still Life (Practical/Theory) Paint in any medium. For the purpose, the Department will provide Drawing Sheet and Drawing Board. Colours & Brushes will be brought by the candidates themselves.
